Teachers are the best actors. Everyday effective teachers come to educate with a smile on their face and their problems at the door.
They pay no mind to who acted out the day before, or what is going on in their personal lives. They come to work to do their job, to educate, to advocate, to motivate.
They see things parents don't, they hear things that shouldn't be said. They keep a positive attitude, they lead, and they achieve.
They act as a safe place, as a home. They see bruises and scrapes, and with a smile on their face they reassure that things will be alright.
They hold back tears on some days when it is visible that outside their four walls, their is neglect, their is hurt.
They put on a show through differentiated learning. They will incorporate multiple subjects into one content subject. With success they will smile, with failures they will smile.
They might not be able to do it all, but they will act like they can.
They act excited when they are tired. They act motivated when they are sad. They will act respectful when they want to fall apart, and until the last student steps out of their classroom at the end of the day, they will have it all together.
They will be empathetic, clever, encouraging, and available at any moment.
Effective teachers can do it all with very little credit, and a smile on their face. And that's why they deserve the award for the best actors and actresses.
