In grade school, I remember Valentine's Day, or should I say Valentine's week being one of the best holidays we celebrated. Every kid in the class had a mailbox they decorated for the occasion. That week, in groups of three or four, each person got to bring their Valentines to school and play a cupid looking mailman, filling each box with their appropriate valentines.
Then, on Feb. 14, the wait was over. We got to take our mailboxes home and spend the afternoon judging every one of them. Back then, judging meant who got an extra smiley face from the boy they liked, or who dotted the i with little hearts. After seeing these new and improved DIY valentines, the judging criteria looks like it may or may not be put in place by Martha Stewart herself.
Below are some examples of how badly we children of the '80s and '90s are being shown up by the Pinterest princesses of the 2000s.
