Welp, its early February as I'm writing this, sitting outside under the shade of a tree enjoying this 65 degree weather. Pretty sure last year around this time we had about 4 snow days canceling all school, but honestly, I'm not complaining too much. Who knows though, with Texas weather it may be back down to 30 next week, but either way, Spring is coming up so post up with some dank grub on your new favorite outdoor patio.
It's getting to be brunch or lunch time, maybe a nice time for an evening dinner and you just can't keep away from the fresh outside air. What do you do? Easy. Hit up one of these top patio restaurants for some dank grub outside in some perfect weather:
1. Flying Saucer Draught Emporium
Located in the heart of downtown Fort Worth, Flying Saucer has one of the dopest patio eating areas around. Each tree is covered with bright Christmas lights that swing from tree to tree to light up the whole area, and the picnic table styled dining makes for a perfect casual afternoon grub down or even on a nice evening. Not to mention the extensive craft brew menu complimented by the great sandwiches, burgers and shared food that anyone will enjoy. Check out their calendar to see when you can see some good live tunes too.
2. Live Oak Music Hall & Lounge
Let's be honest, the Magnolia Ave. area by far has the coolest vibe going for it in Fort Worth, and Live Oak just compliments that perfectly. To mix it up a bit, their outdoor patio is on the roof of their rustic styled building. Hit 'em up almost any night of the week for some great live music while enjoying some great dive bar styled food and a casual drink with some good conversation.
3. Woodshed Smokehouse
What would a top patio article be without the most well known outdoor dining spot in Fort Worth? Woodshed caters the best quasi styled BBQ around and creates one of the best eating atmospheres I've been to. In the evening the wood fire pits create a great area to gather around and is even sometimes coupled with live acoustic acts. On the weekend the patio has a perfect overlook of the Trinity River and has a great overall vibe to it. It gets pretty packed on the weekends, but don't overlook going for a casual week day lunch, it's just as good if not better when it comes to the amount of people.
4. Brewed
Well known for it's funky and eclectic coffee-shop-styled interior, Brewed also hosts a comfortable outdoor patio to grub down on your favorite meals. During the afternoon the outdoor area is poppin' with brunch goers on the weekend and just casual lunch during the weekend. Or maybe you're just looking to sip on your favorite coffee concoction with your favorite book or over some casual conversation, well at night they've got a few large fire pits roarin' to keep everyone toasty and fresh. Easily one of my favorite outdoor patios in FW.
5. Rodeo Goat
Rodeo Goat managed to capture one of the best burgers around and topped off with one of the most laid back and appropriate environments. The outside patio has large community style picnic tables with heaters above and the gravel layered ground makes for a garden like feeling. Try your hand at their washer toss game, it's addicting till you finally get it.
6. The Bearded Lady
The Bearded Lady is a great brew pub with incredible American southern comfort food on the menu. With a dank brunch menu, it's just calling you out on it's patio for a weekend meal. Snag lunch during the week or even a nice early evening meal on the great patio overlooking the Magnolia area.
7. Clearfork Food Truck Park
Located on the banks of the Trinity river, the Clearfork Food Truck Park has a great mix of food trucks that rotates each day. Both perfect for lunch on the weekend or just a casual meal any night of the week, there is plenty of seating and a great small bar that caters to all its customers. Lit up by hanging Christmas lights, there is plenty of seating and even some under covering. This is by far the hottest new food truck park in the area and a hot spot for all the top food trucks in the Fort Worth area.
8. Shinjuku Station
Shinjuku Station is one of the newer spots to hit up on the Magnolia strip. It's a small plate izakaya style menu that's perfect for sharing few a few peeps. The actual restaurant is designed after the world's busiest train stop. They have an incredible menu consisting of traditional dishes and a dank sushi menu. The outdoor patio is lit up and has a very back porch home-like feel to it.
9. Bird Cafe
Another downtown hot spot, Bird Cafe is located in the heart of Sundance Square. On the inside of the actual square and overlooking the fountains and people passing through, Bird cafe has a comfortable setting to enjoy an outside meal. The quant restaurant has a more upscale and unique menu that doesn't break the bank and a dank brunch on the weekends.
10. Pacific Table
Pacific Table is a fusion seafood dig that has a rustic and upscale interior. The outside patio has a more casual sense to it, but still obtains the business casual vibe that the inside captures. The incredible seafood menu is worth checking out alone, much less including outside seating on a nice day.
11. Spice
Spice is another Magnolia Ave. hot spot that focuses on what, in my opinion, is some of the best Thai food in the Fort Worth area. The contemporary styled interior is sheik, yet casual and the outdoor patio reflects the same. I highly recommend snagging the pad thai while you cruise on outside.
12. Bonus: Coyote Drive
Yup, that's right. Fort Worth has a drive in theater and you didn't even know it. Best part is, there's an on-grounds restaurant that serves you up traditional movie theater styled grub. While you can do the traditional drive in with the car, there's also the option to sit in at the incredible viewing area with tables, which also has a covered area. Be sure to check out the craft beer selection while you nom down on some food and overlook an incredible view of the Fort Worth skyline.
Happy Grubbing
