23 Lines From Taylor Swift's New Album "Lover" That Make It Her Best One Yet

Taylor Swift's seventh album "Lover" has arrived, and it already sits at the top of the charts. Here are 23 of the lyrics that got it there.

1. "It isn't love, it isn't hate, it's just indifference"

"I Forgot That You Existed" perfectly captures the feeling of freedom that comes with finally letting go of a negative situation.

2. "I thought that it would kill me but it didn't"

Giphy

- "I Forgot That You Existed"

We all know the feeling of believing a bad situation will never end... but it always does.

3. "I don't wanna keep secrets just to keep you"

Giphy

"Cruel Summer" navigates conflict and tension paralleled with love.

4. "Have I known you twenty seconds or twenty years?"

Title track "Lover" has alllllll the warm fuzzy feelings. True love leaves you feeling like you've known that person for much longer than you have.

5. "If I was out flashing my dollars I'd be a bitch, not a baller"

Giphy

In "The Man", Taylor calls it how it is and shoots down double standards.

6. "They'd paint me out to be bad, so it's okay that I'm mad"

- "The Man"

Taylor voices her frustration with sexism in the music industry. And she does it well.

7. "All of my enemies started out friends, help me hold on to you"

Giphy

"The Archer" is a painfully honest narrative about triumphs and trials, and this line is a really all-encompassing way of explaining something that we all go through.

8. "Lyrical smile, indigo eyes, hand on my thigh, we can follow the sparks, I'll drive"

- "I Think He Knows"

The way Swift crafts this list paints an elegant picture of the man she loves through her eyes.

9. "Boys will be boys then, where are the wise men?

Giphy

- "Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince"

Here, Taylor questions the intentions and morals of the people around her.

10. "I like shiny things but I'd marry you with paper rings"

This line gives the song its name- "Paper Rings"- and is such a simple way of expressing the purity of her love. Just the idea of loving someone so much that you on't care about the material things is so special.

11. "When you jumped in first, I went in too. I'm with you even if it makes me blue"

Giphy

This "Paper Rings" line describes the two of them jumping into a cold outdoor pool and is easily one of the cutest things ever.

12. "I hope I never lose you, hope it never ends, I'd never walk Cornelia Street again"

Giphy

"Cornelia Street" describes loving a place because of its connection to the love you share with a person, and this line describes the heartbreak Swift would find in never walking Cornelia Street again if things were to take a turn for the worse.

13. "We bless the rains on Cornelia Street, memorize the creaks in the floor"

- "Cornelia Street"

Swift picks up on small details like th e"creaks in the floor" and hones in on them to drive her point home.

14. "Quiet my fears with the touch of your hand, paper cut stings from our paper thin plans"

Giphy

Swift's "Death By A Thousand Cuts" is *gasp* a break-up song (inspired by the movie Something Great), and this line flawlessly references the concept of the title.

15. "Trying to find a part of me you didn't take up, gave you so much but it wasn't enough, but I'll be alright it's just a thousand cuts"

- "Death By A Thousand Cuts"

The feeling of endlessly giving to someone and still being made to feel like you aren't enough is sadly something that we have all been through.

16. "They say home is where the heart is, but that's not where mine lives"

Giphy

- "London Boy"

This song is an ode to the man Taylor loves, and this line is a cheeky suggestion that her heart lives with him rather than "home".

17. "Holy orange bottles, each night I pray to you. Desperate people find faith, so now I pray to Jesus too"

- This "Soon You'll Get Better" is a moving and heartbreaking ballad about Taylor's mother's battle with cancer, and it leaves the singer vulnerable in a new way.

18. "I'll paint the kitchen neon, I'll brighten up the sky. I know I'll never get it, there's not a day that I won't try"

Giphy

- "Soon You'll Get Better"

Here, Taylor explains her dedication to trying to understand what her mom is going through even though she knows she can't.

19. "I know heaven's a thing, I go there when you touch me honey, hell is when I fight with you"

- "False God"

Swift uses the heaven/hell contrast to show the happiness she finds in her love.

20. "We see you over there on the internet comparing all the girls who are killing it, but we figured you out, we all know now, we all got crowns"

Giphy

- This line from "You Need To Calm Down" takes on the haters that pit women against each other online.

21. "I lived like an island, punished you with silence"

- "Afterglow"

"Afterglow" is a modern-day "back to December", if you will. Swift owns mistakes she has made in her relationship and asks her lover to be patient.

22. "Church bells ring, carry me home, rice on the ground looks like snow"

- "It's Nice To Have A Friend"

This song is a precious, child-like tune that shows appreciation for the people who stick around.

23. "I've been sleeping so long in a 20-year dark night, but now I see daylight"

Giphy

- "Daylight"

The last song on "Lover", "Daylight" represents Swift figuratively stepping out of the darkness.

The "Lover" album is possibly the most honest Taylor has ever been. It takes us through the stages of her relationship- the falling, the fear, the fights, and the freedom of a new love and newfound peace. It takes on the haters and the assholes, and loves-up the lovers. Could we ask for anything more?

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
