Freshman Year – “Welcome To New York”

Taylor perfectly captured freshman year of college with this song. The excitement of being in a new place where you can be whoever and whatever you want just radiates. There’s a sense of freedom and empowerment you feel! Even on the bad days when you feel like you just can’t make it, you still love it.

“It drives you crazy, but you know you wouldn’t change anything.”

Sophomore Year – “The Story of Us”

Coming in as sophomores, we think we have it all figured out. Then classes start, and we realize that freshman year was a cakewalk compared to what’s in store for us. This is the year when people change their minds, over and over and over again. New major? Sure. New friends? Why not. What about this club? Absolutely. It’s like freshman year was just a trial run and this story is starting all over from the beginning. Sophomore year is hard, but once you get through it you’re so glad you stayed.

“I’m dying to know is it killing you like it’s killing me, yeah?”

Junior Year – “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things”

JUNIOR YEAR! Finally upperclassman. For many, this is the biggest year of their lives. Most college students are finally getting into the meat of their major and on top of that, this is the year many college students will turn 21. But along with all that good, be prepared for all the bad. You will go from a fresh, shiny, happy, party loving young adult one day to a whiny, tired, bitter mess the next. This is the year for discovery. You discover what you want, who you are, and who will stand by you for the rest of your life. It’s terrible, but it’s lovely.

“There I was giving you a second chance, but you stabbed me in the back while shaking my hand.”

Senior Year – “Long Live”

This entire song is built on emotion and memories of the life you’ve had over the years and the great times you’ll never forget. College is rough and full of pain and heartache, but it’s also beautiful and lifechanging. For those who survive it, college can be remembered as the best time of their lives. It was a time of change and growth and love and joy. It had its sadness and tears and sleepless nights, but it will always be remembered for what it truly was – legendary.

“Long live the walls we crashed through, I had the time of my life with you.”

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
