Why Tattoos Do Not Define You

They do not make you more or less of a human being.

Tattoo's have always been a controversy. I have personally always liked the way that tattoos looked on people. Not once did I ever judge a person for being covered in ink. Your body is your template and you should be able to pick what goes on it without being judged.

Just because someone has ink on their body does not make them any less of a person. I see way too many people being judged on a daily basis for the ink that they have on their body. I see people with all of the qualifications for a job, and the perfect personality being rejected just because of their tattoos. To me this is sickening. The ink you put on your body is not going to make you any better or any worse at your job. People need to get this idea out of their heads.

The world that we live in is beyond judgmental. Police officer's have tattoos and I'm sure while they are rescuing your child from an accident or helping to arrest someone bad in your neighborhood you are not going to stop them, because of their ink. Police Officers save so many people on a daily basis and more than a majority of them are tattooed. You can do your job with tattoos. You can save lives with tattoos. It has been proven over a million times.

Teachers are shamed for having tattoos, and it is never by the children. The parents are always the ones that are shaming you for having a tattoo. The children appreciate the art on your body and they ask you questions about it, they think it is fun and it does NOT stop them from learning. Never once do the children think that their teacher's tattoo is going to stop them from learning, this thought doesn't cross children's minds.

I am a teacher and my tattoo is on my shoulder, which means it is hidden a majority of the time. Sometimes I may wear a shirt where one letter of my tattoo may start showing unintentionally. One time this happened and one of my students asked what it meant I told them that my tattoo says "Luv U More" and that it was for my grandma. Not once did my students shame me for having a tattoo they just started talking about their grandma's.

Tattoos are art. They do not make you a prisoner, they do not make you a gang member.

They do not make you bad.

They do not make you good.

You make yourself who you want to be. A tattoo is just art that has nothing to do with your physical actions. You cannot blame your tattoo for a crime that you commit, the only person you can blame for that is YOU. Tattooed people are not going to judge you if you are not tattooed, so why judge tattooed people?

Remember, the ink on your body does not define you. You are who you are regardless of that tattoo on your body. You are not worth any less than anyone. If a job shames you for a ink, than that job does not deserve you. You should not have to regret putting things on your body. You were born with freedom, and there is so much bad in this world, that if you want to get that tattoo then do it! Life is to short to worry about other peoples judgmental opinions on your ink. Go out and get your tattoo!

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
