It is time to end the tattoo stereotype on people who are brave enough to have physical representations of who they are on display for the world to see.

Many people today still hold a stigma about tattoos. That tattoos are bad and only bad people have them. That you will never be able to get a good job if you have any. it is time that this stereotype is changed. I am all for being professional and classy but just because you have tattoos it does not mean that you can not be those things. Many times it has been said that your body is a temple. Now if your body is a temple, why would it be wrong to decorate the walls?

I use my tattoos as physical representations of my soul. They are outlets of expression. Just like jewelry or graphic T-shirts. I have a theory that I want to be able to be read like a book if the person who cared to look at my tattoos was intelligent enough to understand them. Or who took the time to talk to me about them without judgment. Tattoos have other positive qualities other than just looking cool.

Tattoos have been around for many years. There are even some religions that use them for spiritual use. In the celtic pagan religion one of the ways they believed the soul could be healed and restored was by manipulating the frame of the body. A few examples of this is exercise, prosthetics, and yes tattoos. This frame of thought is still being used today. I have heard of examples of people who have a past of depression, or a history of self harm using tattoos as healthy and beautiful way to overcome those issues.

The semicolon project is an example of how tattoos are helping people with self harm. Many people who are brave enough to show the world that they have had or are still overcoming such problems as depression or self harm. Many others have also used tattoos to cover up old cut wounds.

After hearing all of these powerful ways that tattoos can do good for people. How can anyone still hate tattoos and people who get them. It is time to end this stereotype on people who are brave enough to have physical representations of who they are on display for the world to see. There are plenty of other evils in this world, maybe it's time stop creating new evils.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
