No one likes wasting money. We work hard for it; we earn it; we go through blood sweat and tears for it. We don't want to see our hard work go down the drain. This is true for anything we purchase.
Tattoos can be a major purchase. I am unashamed to say I've spent about $500 dollars in tattoos over the years and that's not including tips. Normally my budget ass would cringe at the fact I've spent that much but I just love all of my tattoos so much. I don't regret them or the price in the slightest, especially knowing I got a talented artist I love to do them. But I digress.
Tattoos are usually expensive, unless you get them from a scratcher or a DIY stick n poke. Even then, you went through the pain of getting a tattoo. Why would you want to ruin it in any case? My stick n poke was by far the most painful tattoo I have and I'll be damned if I ever lost it.
In the western society we value hard work, money, and our pain (This one especially if you're emo). Tattoos require all three. Therefore, in any case after enduring the whole process, why the fuck would you want to ruin them?
Summer is coming up. This is both a blessing and curse. The blessing is hot weather where we can wear shorts and tank tops revealing our ink if we have visible tattoos. The curse is the sun and her rays which cause tattoos to age and fade much quicker, sometimes ruining them in the process.
It's important to wear sunblock with a high SPF to protect out tattoos when their visible to the sun. That way they can last longer and look fresher.
God forbid you ever sun tan in a booth, because you are destroying you're tattoos. That's just a terrible idea.
Other post tattoo care ideas for when their healed is regularly moisturize and exfoliate. Moisturization keeps the skin healthy. A rule of thumb is what's healthy for your skin is generally healthy for your tattoo. Exfoliation removes the top dead layer of skin and doesn't hurt your tattoo. If anything it helps it look brighter by removing the dead skin.
I personally apply lotion once a day and exfoliate once a week, but you can make up your own care plan to your liking.
With these tips you tattoos should look healthier and prevent quick fading. You'll no longer be wasting the money that you put into your tattoos.
