Alpha Delta Pi's third annual philanthropy event benefitting The Ronald McDonald House

A Taste Of Columbia

Alpha Delta Pi is proud to host our third annual philanthropy event benefitting The Ronald McDonald House, "A Taste of Columbia," on Friday, November 14th from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at The Hall at Senate's End.

The Ronald McDonald House is a free temporary lodging facility for families to find a home away from home while their children are in the hospital being treated for serious and sometimes fatal illnesses. Many families have to travel hours from their homes for this treatment, so The Ronald McDonald House steps in to free that family from the burden of a commute after a long day trying to help their child fight.

More than anything, what RMH and Alpha Delta Pi bring to these families is compassion, optimism, and ease during a time that can be emotionally and physically draining. The Ronald McDonald House of Columbia is located just miles away from our Greek Village and around the corner from Palmetto Health Richland where many children receive treatment. Our sisters volunteer at this RMH location to serve and comfort the families of these children by cooking meals, cleaning around the facility and visiting with families staying in the house. We find such joy in serving these families through Ronald McDonald House Charities, and we would love for you to be involved too.

Last year, our chapter raised over $16,000 for Ronald McDonald House through ticket sales for A Taste of Columbia, and this year we plan to raise even more. You can purchase tickets for $10 from a member of Alpha Delta Pi prior to the event, or you can buy one for $12 at the door. In addition to helping out a life-changing philanthropy, you will be able to enjoy hours of live entertainment, opportunities to network with many leaders in Columbia, and "famously hot" products and menu items from Breakers Bar and Grill, Petal, Vestique, The Crescent Olive, LaRogue Studio Boutique and many other vendors in the City of Dreams.

This is the one philanthropy event this fall that you do not want to miss, we can't wait to see you there!

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

You know that all of these things apply to you. You'll just never tell.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.

Being a music major is not all kicks and giggles. In fact, there are days when I question my sanity and doubt myself as a musician. I know I am not the only one going through the struggle, and so here are 13 GIFs that I know my fellow music majors can relate to...
