7 Reasons Target Is More Overrated Than Starbucks Frappucinos

I'm sure you're "so obsessed" with both of them.

Don't get me wrong, I love Target. I just think that it's a tad overrated. Here are some of the reasons why I don't understand why everyone needs to go out of their way to talk about how obsessed they are with going to Target.

1. It's overpriced

You can't deny it. You can buy the exact same products you find at Target at Marshalls, T.J.Maxx, Walmart or even the dollar store for a fraction of the cost. Target ups their prices because they know their customers are willing to pay more for their name. Is it really worth it?

2. Their clothing quality is bad

Who has been personally victimized by a Target swimsuit or other clothing item breaking after wearing it once or twice? Yeah, they are cute, but so are clothes at Old Navy, Khols, Aerie, and more where you can find clothes at a cheaper (or the same) price with better quality. Their clothes ARE ADORABLE but they are over priced for the quality you are getting.

3. They don't have as many food options

I know that Target isn't a grocery store, but they lack some basic items! But with that being said, they have that one random coffee almond milk drink that my brother and I love because they carry the most random options.

4. You're going to see everyone and their mom

This is mainly at my local Target. I know so many people I went to high school with who work there. I've ran into so many parents (moms specifically). I rarely make it out without seeing someone I know.

5. You go for one thing and buy 10 things

Congratulations to Target's marketing department and whoever designs the floor plan, because they are doing great. This is mostly the fault of the shoppers, but I swear it's so much worse when we go to Target.

6. It's unoriginal

All of the adorable items you see at Target can probably be found at local shops near you that are giving back to your local community instead of a large corporation. There is nothing wrong with following trends or choosing for the cheaper options, but I recommend checking out local shops to check the prices before you give all your money to a company that really doesn't need it.

7. Their fresh produce isn't as fresh (especially for the cost)

My mom came home complaining that Target wanted $0.30-$0.50 PER BANANA which you can typically get for like $0.25 PER POUND.. and this high price isn't for the better quality, because it will be bad in a day or two. Target acts like they have all these healthy and fresh options, but all of their fruits and vegetables are a couple days away from going bad.

I understand that no one, including myself, is about to stop shopping at their beloved Target. But maybe all you Target lovers can think about these things before you go blow your paycheck at your next weekly Target run.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
