A Tale Of Two Identities Part 3

Captain Black and his crew have been after me since I was six. He knows that I'm never far behind my uncle, so if he finds him, he'll find me. Once we landed, I got off the boat and went on a search to find my uncle. As I made my way through the town to the jail I had to avoid being spotted by the British soldiers, as well as Captain Black and his crew. "Ah, finally the jail." I whispered to myself as I snuck in.

After awhile of sneaking through the prison and looking in cells, I finally found my uncle. "Gosh, why does it seem that I'm always the one who's saving you." I said as I stood in front of his cell with my hands on my hips. "Yes I know, but why are you here I told you to stay hidden?" "Well I don't listen, you should know that. Mr. Smith told me about Angela and I'm so not going to lose the only family that I have." I said. "I never wanted you to know that story." "Why? Wait never mind that now, Captain Black is here and he's looking for me… again." I said as I let him out of the jail cell.

He grabbed my arms and said "Now, go, run, and don't get caught. Swim to the next island, but don't change form." He said as he wrapped me up into a big hug. "Okay, I will." I said as I left my uncle. While trying to sneak out of the jail, one of Black's crewmen caught me and dragged me through the nearby alleyway, to the edge of a cliff where Black was waiting."Black." I said sitting on the ground with my hands tied behind my back with the crewmember who brought me here holding the end of the rope. "Child." Black said with a cruel snarl in his voice.

"What do you want this time?" I said as I stared him down. "The same thing that I've wanted for the past eight years. I want to know your secret. How do you change?" He screamed as he could see I would not give up information easily. "I'll never tell you." I screamed and spit on his boots. "Ye listen here me lady if you want to stay alive ye tell me what I want to know." He said as he grabbed my face. "NEVER!" I snarled as I shook my head out of his hands and kicked the crew member that was holding me. As soon as the crew member let loose of the rope I stood up, pushed Black out of the way and ran to the edge of the cliff. "Ahoy matey! See ye next time." I said with a smirk on my face as I jumped off the cliff into the water.

Once I landed in the water I started swimming to the neighboring island. Just as Black reached the edge of the cliff, I dove under the water. Captain Black was no fool he and his crew members pulled out their pistols and shot at the water where the presumed I was.

Stay tuned for the death-defying finale!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
