Taking Your Nose Out Of Your Books Is Okay

Step away from your school work to enjoy life for an hour or two.

Taking Your Nose Out Of Your Books Is Okay

I wrote this little piece back when I was stressed about finals and finishing up my semester, but I think it is still pertinent today. Keeping up on your mental health through out the semester is key for success in and out of class. So, here are my thoughts from back in December.

I am not one to always long for the weekend, but this week back in December I needed that particular Friday. That week was crazy hectic and the next two weren't going to be any better. Finals were upon all of us and the next couple weekends were going to be full of studying, papers and projects to do, so that Friday was much needed. I spent that Friday doing things for my mental health.

I made homemade pizza, watched movies, and all around enjoyed my Friday night with my roommate and best friend. Nights like that are what help me get through the semester. Looking out for your mental health by taking some time off from school work helps keep you sane as well as rejuvenates you to study that much harder when you get back to that school grind!

I know weeks like that are hard, but one night won’t kill you to have some time to yourself, or time with some close friends. Taking a break for your mental health is one of the best things you can do for yourself. My advice for this upcoming semester is to take at least 1-2 hours per week to do something that takes you away from your books and gives you a break from it all. Take a bath, color, have a good belly-laugh with some friends, but all I ask is that you don’t lose sight of the good things in life while you’re buried under piles of papers.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
