This semester had to be the most difficult one so far. Every night I found that I was stuck at home or at my college's library studying, doing homework or writing a paper. Every morning I was waking up with dark circles and bags under my eyes and walking from class to class feeling like a zombie; only to have to do the same thing again the next day. See, I understand that that's the way college works if you're working your way towards landing a career, but after all that hard work and those endless nights, I was in definite need of a break.
Once winter break started, it felt strange because I was so used to constantly having to do something. I felt like I still had an exam to study for or like I had an assignment to get done for the next week even though I knew there was nothing to do. It took me a while to get used to the fact that I could actually relax or that I could sleep in.
Spending the holidays with my family just made my break so much better and I actually had the most fun I've ever had. I got to spend a lot of quality time with my older brother before he moves to New Zealand for the next two years, I got to spend time with some extended family which I really enjoyed because I felt like it brought us even closer, and I got to see one of my cousins, Caryn, who got stay with us for a week which we hadn't done in a really long time. I also got to share the time off with my closest friends.
The best part though about this break was that, in between all of the fun I had, I was able to sit down and relax for more that 20 minutes which I was never able to do and I most definitely took advantage of being able to sleep in. But now, winter break is coming to a close and I'm about to start spring semester and as much as I would love to have a few more weeks off, I'm also ready to start off this next semester with a good head on my shoulder.
