Take A Step Back And Breathe

Our lives don't have to be stressful.

Take A Step Back And Breathe

Take a deep breath. Everything will be alright.

It is that time in the semester. We are so close, yet so, so far away from nearing the end of the fall semester. How did it go by so fast? Sometimes it may seem as if life is everywhere: homework assignments, work, trying to make time to hang out with friends. It's easy to get so caught up in the moment and forget to stop, take a step back, and take a close look at where you are.

Look at your life. You're still alive, and everything is alright. What are you worried about? Why are you constantly stressed? Stop letting time consume you. Stop letting school consume you. Stop letting work consume you. Stop letting earthly things consume you.

Now, I am not saying always procrastinate, don't try in school, or don't show up to work. All of those are important (except procrastinating, never do that). But what if we stopped for a minute to just breathe? Because hey, guess what, it's okay to do that every once in a while.

Take a nap, watch some TV, read a book, eat some junk food, go and hang out with your friends. Do the things that make you happy. Have a life again.

We are too young to be too consumed in ourselves and earthly things. It is time we start taking care of ourselves. We live in a world that tells you if you are not constantly go, go, go, then you are doing it all wrong. We are supposed to constantly work because that is how you live a full life.

What if someone told you that that isn't all there is to life? What if someone told you that working hard 24/7 might not be access to a full life?

Of course, it is important to do things for yourself, have a job, and work hard in school. But guess what, it is equally as important to spend time with other people, pour into other people, and love on other people. It is also just as important to spend time alone. Maybe for you that's quiet time with God or reading a book you love.

If your days are jam-packed and stressful, try this:

Wake up early every morning (it's amazing the things you can get accomplished before noon).

Make a cup of coffee.

Have a little quiet time, whatever that may look like for you.

Eat a good breakfast.

Get ready for the day.

Go through your day step by step.

I know, I know, it is hard. It is so hard when your schedules are tight and you feel like the world is throwing everything in your direction. It takes a lot of practice to be able to be truly stress free.

Remember, when you feel yourself start to get stressed, stop and slow down. Just breathe. And then move on.

Everything will be fine. You've got this, you can get through it. Just remember, don't overwork yourself just because the world tells you that is how you should live.
