8 Reasons You Should Roadtrip With Your Friends This Summer

Recently, I had the distinct pleasure of taking a road trip to Montreal with some of my closest friends. This trip brought me so much more than I ever thought it would and let me tell you why you need to take a road trip with your friends.

1) You get to spend countless hours singing loudly with the people who make you smile.

Taking an endless car ride with your friends gives you plenty of time to sing at the top of your lungs and learn so many new songs that you immediately want to download to your music. Everyone is singing together, at the top of their lungs, to the same song. Honestly, it's sort of adorable.

2) You learn more about your friends than you ever thought you could.

Being crammed into a car with you friends for a long car ride forces you to get to know them in ways you never thought that you would. At the time, it mights not seem like the greatest thing, but in hindsight, you become endlessly grateful.

3) SO. MANY. SNACKS.

Everyone brings the snacks they want so by the time you get yourselves into the car and all your stuff, you cannot see out of the window because there are so many snacks.

4) You'll laugh 'til you cry.

I have never laughed as hard as I did in that car with my friends. I had tears streaming down my face. You laugh together, cry together. It's really the best experience.

5) You discover amazing food joints.

Every time you stop, you can find some little food joint that is tucked away and never gets much notice. You grab your food and go and are often plesantly surprised by the amazing food you are eating.

6) You'll have have a new appreciation for leg room.

Being crammed into a car with all of your friends gives you an entirely new appreciation for leg room in the driver seat.

7) You learn to put your phone down and just enjoy what is happening right in front of you.

I put my phone down in the car and just hung out with the people I was with for the first time in longer than I would like to admit. We all are attached to our cell phones way more than we should be. It was a fantastic break from the burden of my iPhone and all of the social media that comes with it.

8) Oh, the places you'll see!

I got to experience the mountains of New England, and the farm land of Canada that I otherwise would not have been able to see. You can see the true beauty of the world around you and experience it with your closest friends.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
