Society has a way of making us feel like we aren’t good enough, like things have to be done a certain way, like we can’t set our own opinions, and that we must be a creature of a specific habit.

I am guilty of falling into all of the things that I listed above.

We have a way of letting the world and the people around us tell us how we are supposed to live our lives.

Why do we care about what people think?

I’m tired.

I’m physically, mentally, and emotionally worn out.

I’m sick of wearing myself out because I’m worried about pleasing everyone around me.

Trying to please everyone has a way of making us forget who we really are, and what our purpose in life is.

The only person we have to answer to is God. At the end of our life, the petty little things we worried about aren’t going to matter.

Next time we feel overwhelmed, we need to take a step back and ask ourselves if what we are worried about today will have any effect on who we are, or who we are going to become. Doing this will show you that you simply have to let go of the things that you can’t control or change.

If the things you can control aren’t making you happy, then why are you allowing it? It’s not fair to ruin your own happiness, when you’re the one that can control it.

Stop worrying about everyone around you, and start making yourself happy. Do all the things that you want to do and the things that make you happy.

Don’t let the opinions of the people around you have an effect on how you live your life. You aren’t answering to them at the end.

Stop only traveling down the road your most comfortable with, take the road less traveled on. Be a follower, and show people what it means to truly be happy.

Happiness is contagious.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
