Our city, rapidly expanding but keeping it forever weird, is a unique blend of culture and scenery. Urban and rural are mixed flawlessly in Austin, keeping the ever bustling environment, somehow, laid back. Students from across the globe have found their place in Austin, probably because diversity and experimentation are the norm. Austin is a place to thrive and be accepted—and have a ton of fun along the way.

As the fall semester approaches, college students everywhere are itching to get back to the routine of the school year. But there's something special coming for those returning home to a university in Austin, Texas. From the University of Texas, St. Edward's University, Austin Community College, Concordia University, and Huston-Tillotson University to the smaller specialty schools in the State Capital, there is so much to look forward to when returning this fall.

Zilker Park and Barton Springs Pool

In the middle of the city lies Zilker Park and Barton Springs. Zilker is known for its nationally recognized music festival, Austin City Limits, but the park offers much more year round. The Zilker Kite Festival, the Trail of Lights at Christmas time, and Blues on the Green are just a few events held on this grassy paradise. Every day there are picnic havers, dog walkers, and volleyball players soaking in the beautiful Austin sunshine. Plus, just a short walk away is Barton Springs—a natural pool made into the best hangout spot. It's picturesque and the perfect place to spend a lazy Saturday.

The Whip In

Have you ever heard of Indian Fusion cooking? If not, the best place to try it out is a gas station-turned-restaurant off of I-35. The Whip In serves some of the best Indian-inspired meals, most of which are vegetarian or vegan. They offer cool events and live music almost every night and also have a huge beer and wine selection for those of age.

The Paramount Theatre

If you're looking for some theatrical entertainment, head to Austin's original performing arts venue on Congress Avenue. There's something timeless about Paramount (it's been around for a century!) and there is a show for everyone to experience.

Hippie Hollow

If adult only, clothing-optional beaches are your thing, spend a day at the only public park in Texas that doesn't require a swimsuit. If you're not into sunbathing naked, don't worry. Hippie Hollow is full of beautiful hiking trails worth exploring.

Blanton Museum of Art

Located on the University of Texas, the Blanton Museum of Art is home to almost 18,000 works of European, Contemporary American, and Latin American art. Events and exhibitions cycle every few months, so there is always something new to discover at the museum.

Sweet Ritual

Arguably one of the best ice cream spots in Austin, Sweet Ritual is known for their unique, gluten-free and vegan treats. You never expect a sunbutter or almond based ice cream to taste good, but it definitely does. Stop by and ask for edible glitter to make it even more interesting!

Broken Spoke

Even if two-stepping isn't normally your idea of a fun Friday night, dancing at the Broken Spoke is a must. This famous country music dance hall is considered one of the last true country dance halls, full of old school cowboys getting their groove on. Grab a group of friends to twirl on the dance floor with, or just go to hang out and watch old people dance the night away.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
