Why Not Take A Leap of Faith?

Skydiving is a life changing experience.

Why Not Take A Leap of Faith?

I hear everyday people telling me they want to swim with sharks or go bungee jumping, but then why don't they ever do it. This past week, I was offered a chance to go skydiving, and I quickly jumped on that opportunity. It was an incredible experience that I cannot put into words. Skydiving was more than just a seven-minute fall from a perfectly good plane or a check off my bucket list, it was a learning experience.

I faced my fear.
I was scared out of my mind to jump out of a plane because so many things were running through my head. What if the parachute does work? What if we had a crash landing? But then again what helped me agree to this experience was trust. I trusted these guys to know what they were doing and once we were already 12,000 feet up, there really was no turning back. After completeing this jump, I faced a fear and now I feel like I can conquer any of my fears because lets be real, what can be scarier then jumping out of a plane?

I changed my view on life.
I have always been known to push the limits in my family, but not to the point of jumping out of a plane. I still had fears because growing up we were taught the right and wrong way to go through life. What was too dangerous and what was the norm. After facing my fear and taking the leap of faith out of a plane, my view on life changed. I learned that life was created to take chances, to say yes to spontanious trips and to convince yourself to do the unknown. Because without pushing the limits, life is just boring.

I am inspired to do anything and everything I want to do.
When I was free falling at 120 MPH for a minute from 12,000 feet above the ground, I had time to contemplate my life. I realized that this is the first time I was doing something that I felt completely free. I had no restrictions, and it has given me the confidence and inspiration to be able to face anything in life.

If anybody is on the edge and unsure if they should skydive or not? Just think to yourself, why not? Take that leap of faith and change your outlook on life. It will change your life for the better.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
