Everyone going to college or in college already has an idea or is thinking about what they want to do with their degree and what major will get them to the job of their dreams. As a college freshman, I always thought that I would go to school for something within the science field since many of the jobs are so high paying.
I, like I'm sure many others have, made the choice to go to school for something that will help make them make good money. However, I think that people have this closed off idea that once you get your major that your major is all you should focus on. You might think that is the best way to tackle your college classes.
Not that your major classes aren't important because they absolutely are but, consider taking classes in other areas besides your general education courses. It might open doors for you that you didn't know were even there or give you a new hobby.
You will undoubtedly meet some new and exciting friends, people that you may have never crossed paths with otherwise. Plus you'll have learned something new, maybe you'll like it better than you thought or maybe you'll decide its not for you but, it's still a good learning experience that I think everyone should consider.
