Take A Break And Explore

As a photojournalism major, I will go on any adventure where I can take an amazing photo. Although you may have to jump into your car and drive 20 minutes, Indiana offers you a lot to see. So grab your camera and go.

1. Griffy Lake. This gem of a lake is five minutes from North Jordan Avenue. Griffy Lake is not a huge lake, but it is a perfect getaway. The area has many hiking trails, a lookout point and a place to rent boats, canoes and kayaks. Griffy Lake is perfect for days when you want to take a break and get outside, but not be gone for too long. The lake is across the street from the baseball and softball fields and is tucked away behind a neighborhood.

2. Lake Monroe. If you have more time in your day, and want a bigger and better lake, I suggest Lake Monroe. The lake is only 20 minutes away and it has beaches, boat rentals and hiking trails. This lake is much bigger than Griffy Lake. Most people go to Lake Monroe for what we like to call boats. On your way home from Lake Monroe, I suggest stopping at Scenic View, a restaurant that overlooks the hills and trees of Bloomington. It is a great view and has great food.

3. Brown County. Brown County has it all. From Brown County State Park to the cutest downtown area, Brown County State Park overlooks Indiana for miles. It is nothing but a beautiful sight of different colored trees. The best time to go is in late October, when all of the leaves are changing colors. It only costs $5 to get in, and is just 30 minutes from Bloomington. Besides beautiful lookout points, the park also has a pool, lodges and picnic areas. Also, downtown Brown County is one of the cutest places. You can find little stores that sell random items, Brown County's very own brewery and an ice cream parlor on almost every corner. Brown County is the perfect place for a day trip or a date!

4. Indianapolis. If you really want to get out of town, Indianapolis is only 45 minutes away from Bloomington. With comedy clubs, the Colts and great food, it is a great place to get away for the night.

Indiana has more than you think. Just don't forget your camera!

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
