A sorority sister of mine is the one who originally gave me the idea for this article. I really thought it was a great idea since I’m always curious and on the hunt to find places where my student I.D. can come in handy when I’m trying to save money.

So, my fellow Bobcats, here are some places in the wonderful city of San Marcos where your student I.D. can really come in handy when you're trying to save a couple bucks.

1. J. Crew

With a valid student I.D you can get 15% off your whole purchase.

2. Yogurt in Love

For all my yogurt lovers out there, on Thursdays, Yogurt in Love will give you 25% off your purchase when you show a student I.D.

3. Golf

I'm not much of a golf person myself, but my boyfriend is so you know we had to find some golf courses that had good deals.

Quail Creek Golf Club: $19 on weekdays and $25 on weekends

Bobcat Golf Range: $10 large bucket of balls.

4. Red Dawg Hot Yoga

I’ve never been to Red Dawg before, but a lot of my friends have and they love it. After I saw that they had some awesome discounts for students, I’m pretty sure I will be going very soon.

Single Class: $12

10 Class Pass: $100

Unlimited: $85 per month

5. San Marcos Premium Outlets

Various stores in the San Marcos Outlets have student discount themselves, but sadly most of them don't. However, if you show your student I.D. at their service office you can get a free coupon book that has coupons for a bunch of different stores.

6. Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store

At the Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store in the San Marcos Outlets, you can get 15% off your purchase with your student I.D.

7. Texas State Sports/Theatre Productions

A lot of students know that your Texas State I.D. will get you into all of the university sporting events for free, but it also will give you a discount on different shows and musical performances put on by the Texas State Department of Theatre and Dance or the Texas State School of Music. It comes in handy when different classes require a critique or review from a live performance.

8. Taco Cabana

When I found out about this 20% off discount I swear I almost starting crying tears of joy. Taco C is my ultimate go-to on any day for any occasion. Although Taco Cabana isn’t that expensive, any amount off is still pretty great.

9. Starplex Cinema

I love going to movies, but not the expensive prices that can come with them. However, at Starplex a movie ticket only cost $5.75 per person with your student I.D.

10. Dick's Classic Car Garage

This is another one for my boyfriend who is not only a golf fanatic, a car one as well. Dick's Classic Car Garage is like his own personal little heaven. With a student I.D. you can get a tour for only $8 per person.

11. EVO Entertainment

Although this isn't technically in San Marcos, Kyle is only just down the road. On Thursdays EVO not only has amazing drink specials, but they also have good deals on bowling when you show them your student I.D.

Half price bowling from 9 p.m. to close.

$1 shoe rental from 9 p.m. to close.

On Thursdays they also have a special for a large, one topping pizza for $10 with your I.D.

12. Papaya

At Papaya, when you spend over $50 you get 10% off your whole purchase with your student I.D.

I hope all of you Texas State students, and even those who may not go to Texas State, take advantage of different places that offer students discounts. I always ask wherever I go, and you would be surprised at how many stores offer great deal to college students.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
