'Take Nothing For Granted:' A Quote To Live By

Life is precious, it's time we start acting like it.

Unfortunately, it is usually when times get tough that people really begin to reflect. They think about everything they have lost and all the things they wish they did in life. They often find themselves thinking about the times they should've remembered that life is short and that nothing lasts forever. Don't take anything, even the little things, in your life for granted and look back one day full of regret.

We often forget to live in the moment. We are constantly thinking about the work we have to do, or the fact that we haven't gone to the gym in two weeks, or the phone call we are dreading later or the million other things we have to get done before tomorrow. We find ourselves so busy and stressed that we forget to take a step back and be thankful for all this stuff we have to do. This is a reminder to be thankful for the things that may be unwelcome in your life, but are actually really important lessons that make you a better version of you.

Listen, I know it is MAD annoying that your teacher assigned an exam and an essay on the same day. I know your grandma calls right as you are about to get in the shower. I know your friends are all going out but you're really tired. Trust me, I know. But, we, as human beings, take people, places, moments, lessons, experiences, and even things for granted. We forget how lucky we are to be alive and to have friends and family who want to spend time with you and to have the ability to learn something. We are so lucky to exist; we are lucky to be able to experience the good, and the bad of life.

Life happens so quickly. Your life, or the life of someone you love, can change in the blink of an eye. This is why it is so important to not take anything for granted because it can be gone in a second. Life is so short, choose to live and to love everything in it while you still can.

Remember:

Take nothing for granted.

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
