The Milk District Provides Orlando With Culture
Why are we not spending our time here? Forget Downtown Orlando.
Orlando is a complex city if we really sit down and think about. The city lines are weird. It's huge. It's made up of smaller "districts" all throughout it. We have the Ivanhoe District, Audubon Park (the Garden District), College Park, Baldwin Park and so many more. The Milk District is the most up and coming district in Orlando and the most modern hipster one.
The Milk District provides us with culture, art, music and some delicious cuisine. You can find any type of diet offerings. The well known Vegan restaurant, Market On South which is compiled of two businesses (Dixie Dharma and Valhalla Bakery), is apart of the Milk District community along with Drunken Monkey a well-known cafe spot that has a plentiful amount of vegan options. If you are a meat eater, there is more than plenty of options for you too! There's Pom Pom's and Beefy King (which are delicious).
Market On South also hosts a monthly small shindig called Thirsty Thursday's! It takes place every third Thursday of the month and hosts multiple different breweries and other vendors where you can get tastings from all. On top of Thirsty Thursdays, The Milk District also hosts Tasty Takeover Tuesdays! What's that? It's a food truck event that takes place every week in the back parking lot of The Milk Bar.
It's amazing. There are over ten different types of food trucks for you to choose from and enjoy. Even the Vegan hotdog cart makes an appearance for all the non-meat eaters. Plus, The Milk Bar is a super dog-friendly pub with a ton of furry friends waiting to greet you.
What about for the weekend and late nights out? There are so many pubs to choose from. My personal favorite, Sports Town, is a great pool hall/game bar that you can take a plethora of friends to. They have skeeball, Pac-Man, foozeball and a variety of pool tables to play at. Or, if you're more of the dive bar type of person there is Whiskey Lou's which has been apart of the Milk District for decades! There's also Southern Nights and The Sandwich Bar if you want somewhere you can dance your heart out at all night.
After surviving your long night out on the town, The Milk District has some delicious fresh made juices from The Juice Bar to help pump your body full of nutrients to help get you moving. After sucking down the yummy juice, you can stop at Orlando Power Yoga or Crossfit Milk District to sweat out all the alcohol from the night before.
The Milk District also has some cool places to shop! Retro Records is the ideal vintage music store that everyone longs for. There are a ton of aisles of types of vinyl to browse through for hours! The Cookery is also a quaint shop to stop at if you're looking for coffee, cooking oils and etc. Market On South also acts as a small shop with a ton of local vendors that offer everything from dog shampoos to unique pieces of art!
Next time you have an old friend or relative in town and can't seem to think of anything to do, take them to The Milk District! It's thriving with fun and unique things to do and it shows the hidden culture that Orlando has living in it.
