Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.

Essential High School Classes that Should Exist

Imagine waking up at 6 or 6:30 in the morning, finding the energy to pull yourself out of bed, and throwing that granola bar into your mouth to get to school in time, only to find yourself going through a daily routine of classes that you will most likely never need again for the future. High school definitely needs to mandate some prerequisites, but there needs to be some other classes that are mandatory as well.

Put yourself in a high schooler's shoes for a quick second or two. I mean sure there are the basic requirement classes such as personal finance, gym, and health, but how many of the students actually value those? As much as the school boards want to hear, the answer is, little to none. This is because most of the students decide to take those classes in the first or second year just so that they can fulfill the requirement, to graduate.

This summer, I participated in many different activities as a way to boost my reputation and resume for colleges to hand pick me as one of the potential future students. One of these was volunteering at a hospital and getting some experience in the field of medicine. However, due to my minor status, we were unable to see many of the important surgeries or events that were occurring in the hospital simply due to my age. However, I did get to meet some great new people and most of them were parents. Going into the last couple weeks, I noticed a trend that they seemed to all be discussing one common topic, how our summers have slipped away from middle school and high school kids.

I'm a neurotic person. I always have been. Even when there was no need to worry or freak out, I would always somehow believe that I was busy, but that belief has been thrown out the window.

In a recent article, I explained that I would be motivated by having a lot on my plate. While this is true, I think I underestimated the amount of busy I was talking about.

I May Hate My Professor, But She's The Best Professor I've Ever Had

I think my professor has a lot to question about some of her current teaching methods. But despite all of her flaws, I'll be damned if I don't say she's not an excellent teacher.

Forgetful, curt, frigid.

Those are only a few of the shining adjectives I can think of to describe my professor. A self-assured, no-nonsense middle-aged woman has been the bane of my existence this semester and ironically, one of the most intriguing parts of it. In much the same way that a sore muscle feels painfully pleasurable, I've found myself utterly annoyed (sometimes downright angered by) my professor and her mannerisms, yet enjoying every minute of the class, nonetheless.
