To My First Ever Best Friend, I Have No Clue What I Would Do Without You
I don't even know where to begin
Dear Best Friend,
I don't even know where to begin. We've been friends for over 18 years now, which is insane to think about. I don't remember exactly when we first met, or how it first came about, but I'm glad it happened because I couldn't imagine not having you in my life.
My best friend from across the street soon became my best friend in swimming lessons, to best friends in pre-school, to being my best friend all throughout elementary, middle and high school, and now college, despite going to different schools.
Being able to go to pre-school together was awesome. We were in the same class every year, and that's how we got closer. We would be partners on the different "field trips" we took, like when we got to go across the street to visit the police station, and we would have the time of our lives when we would go to Chuck E. Cheese for almost every birthday party.
The playdates we had were iconic. Every time I would come over to your house, we would jump into your little Barbie Jeep and ride it all up and down the street. We would go inside and eat mint chocolate chip ice cream. As we got older, we couldn't fit into that Barbie Jeep anymore *sad*, but we did get to play Webkinz and ride your skateboard in your backroom.
I moved away in 2005, and that was so rough because my best friend now lived a half-hour car ride away. I hadn't met any new friends in my new town yet. The move didn't stop us, however, because we would make our parents drive us to each other's houses all the time so we could still see each other. We would call each other on the phone all the time to see if we could have a playdate, and it would turn out to be some of the best days ever.
We went through all of our phases together: Webkinz, Jonas Brothers, Barbies, and let's not forget that good ol' One Direction phase we both went through. We both had One Direction posters that covered the walls so much that you couldn't tell what color paint was behind it.
We had all the merch you could imagine, from bracelets to T-shirts, to pillowcases and even those life-sized cardboard cutouts. We got to go through all of those cringy phases together, and I'm so glad we did because now we have a bunch of things to laugh about.
In high school, we started to drift apart a little bit and didn't get to hang out as much. Between you playing sports and me getting a job, we couldn't fit into each other's schedules, but we still kept in touch and I'm so happy we didn't lose each other during that time. I have no clue what I would do without you.
Now, we talk every day, we go to colleges that are just a short train ride away from each other, and we're seeing the Jonas Brothers together in under six months! Thank you so much for all of the memories, always being there for me, and always supporting me with everything I do in life.
I'll always be here for you and rooting for you in everything you do. I'm so excited to spend an entire lifetime with you and create so many more memories!
Love,
Christina
