DJ & Music Producer Unorthodox Is Ready To Be The Soundtrack Of Your Summer
EP 'Earth Noise' coming out May 24th!
The music industry is truly bursting at the seams these days with the talented artist on top of talented artist, and London DJ and music producer Martin Searle, who goes by 'Unorthodox,' is no different. In fact, he might just be the exception when it comes to up and coming artists, considering his new music seems to outshine all of the house music surrounding him.
Ever since he was 15 years old, Martin has known he wanted to be wrapped up in the world of music, gravitating towards its industry. He was a drummer in a band when he was 17, which turned in DJing, which ultimately turned into music production. His first big commercial break rolled around at only 18 years old with singer Craig David, and he never looked back.
Why 'Unorthodox,' you ask? Martin's approach to music is different than anything and everything he's ever heard before. What he brings to the table is unique, and perhaps ahead of his time. His personality is authentically displayed within his sound, and this is what truly makes him stand out as an artist. His music is a risk, and it's a risk he's willing to take. Upon being asked, "if you could only use one word to describe your sound, what would it be?" He appropriately proclaimed, "Unorthodox."
A typical, orthodox if you will, day in his life consists of being in the studio making records, most of which don't see the light of day. Producing music is a process, and just like most things, it does not come easy. While in the studio, his approach to making remixes begins by simply analyzing the style and structure of the song at hand, and adding in his own personal taste and structure around the hooks. This is a personal taste he worked hard for, and dreamt of having his whole life. The fact that it's actually here now and he's living out his dream career while working for himself is his favorite part of the music industry.
As far as inspiration goes, Martin would have to give his family credit where credit is due, labeling himself a family man as opposed to a particular artist giving him his fuel. However, he does love producer Todd Edwards, who made him want to produce himself. His favorite music that he has not been a part of would have to be Fleetwood Mac. If he could only listen to one song for the rest of his life it would be "The Chain" (a song he claims he's already listened to a million times).
