Social Media Is Controlling Our Emotions And Killing Our Self Esteem, And Only You Can Stop It
Don't sit around and hope for a miracle, that's not how life works and if you want and need something you have to work hard for it.
Today I was told "see you around Instagram" like that is the normal thing these days… We only put what we want others to see out in the world and the rest we keep hidden and bottled up so what we show to them seems great. Like we have our lives together, that we are these perfect humans that are doing amazing things but we don't take time to actually get to know these people. Social media has totally f*cked up the system of teens and young adults today and we live off of the attention of others whether we like to believe it or not.
The likes, the followers, the comments.. they are all what make us feel alive and that is sad. If someone doesn't have enough followers they won't feel happy and if they post something and it doesn't get enough likes they will take it down. How is this the life we live in, we are too worried about what others think of the fake lives we put on the internet that we aren't realizing that most peoples live on the internet are fake, too. We are all so caught up in each other's perfect lives that we don't realize that deep down they could be fucking depressed as hell and struggling to make ends meet.
We only show the good, the very minute moments in our life that seem perfect to catch peoples attention because that's what we strive for. We strive for attention and after being off social media for a while I have noticed that when I do go back on I get sick to my stomach. In the sense that I instantly feel like I'm not succeeding the way, I should be, like all of these people I follow are doing so much better than me and are so far ahead. And that's the problem with social media, we don't see the bad or the ugly we only see the good.
We only see what people want to see and it makes us think we aren't doing good enough. It makes us sulk and wish we were better, but that's not true. Everyone has their own story and own life they are living and if you want to be successful and get to the point that maybe that person looks like they are living then just fucking do it.
Don't sit around and hope for a miracle, that's not how life works and if you want and need something you have to work hard for it. No one ever got anywhere without working hard for what they wanted so badly. Failure is the best medicine because it's bitter and it's hard but it helps you learn and helps you grow and just because you don't succeed right away doesn't mean you won't ever succeed. If you give up who knows where you'll be, and if you succeed just imagine how happy you'll be.
