Long Island is known around the country for its amazing beaches and high-end living. Many people believe Long Island is one of the best places to live due to its amazing school districts and close distance to New York City. What many people don't know, however, is that Long Island could not be any more difference than the rest of New York. Also known as Strong Island, LI seems to breed its own population different from anywhere else. We are our own species of humans who can be picked out of a crowd like a needle in a hay stack. Any Long Islander can tell you the numerous traits native to The Island, but here are a select few that are definitely worth mentioning. 1) Meat heads that claim they are "bulking" but in reality are just getting fat
2) Being type casted depending on which school you go to
3) The phrases "deadass" "O.D" and "thot" constantly being used
4) 55mph actually meaning 75mph, it's Long Islander math
5) Your eighth-grade-self judging your eighth-grade-boyfriend based on how he looks in his singlet
6) 24 Hour Diners
We got worried during Covid but just like all Long Islanders they're tough and they managed to survive
7) Having the best pizza known to man
8) Having the the best bagels in town
9) The overwhelming feeling of thankfulness when driving in the HOV lane between 4-7pm
10) 45 minute beach traffic

21) Drinking at night on school property as a high schooler and then sprinting from the cops who threaten to call your mom
