#TAFAIC: You Need To Get This book

Dear Lauren Graham, I suddenly love reading now.

I have to admit; I am not a bookworm. I have a bookcase filled with pictures and maybe ONE row of books but to call me an active reader? I'd rather be on my laptop watching Netflix. It's not that I don't LIKE to read, it's just I get sleepy very easily, and as a college student, I like to visualize over reading.

With that personal tidbit about myself explain, I can at least tell you I did get a chance to read Lauren Graham's new book "Talking As Fast As I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls, and Everything In Between."

My review?

I LOVED it. Personally, I think I enjoyed it because it was a mix of personal essay's and journals from Graham herself. When I read non-fiction/autobiography, my mind gets hooked to the life getting described because it's someone's real story. I don't know if it is because of my journalism instincts or the fact that I love WRITING about someone's life, but during these difficult times, it brought a smile to my face.

If you've watched "Gilmore Girls," you already know the witty and fast-paced dialogue Graham has to present. In many interviews, Graham has mentioned that's how she talks in real life and well, her vivacious personality and just the way she talks in real life gets clearly reflected in her writing. I honestly don't know if that makes sense or is intellectual at all, but it adds so much uniqueness and quality. I was able to read her book with her voice in my head (in a non-creepy kind of way).

The diction she uses is also another compelling aspect of her book. Phone conversation? Yup, the transcript is on there. Inner thoughts of Ms. Graham? Yup, in there too and presented in a HILARIOUS manner. Caps? HELL YEAH.

Now, I know she has her other novel, and I will get on that novel soon enough, but for now, I suggest you go on to your neighborhood bookstore and grab a copy of this fabulous book.

I am not by any means a New York Times best sellers list, nor a critic nor anyone qualified to give you an intellectual view on whether or not this book was good or not, but I am a happy reader. It is not a dread to read, trust ME. It instantly makes you smile and laugh and ok, cry too. It only makes you fall in love with Lauren Graham even more.

P.S. She was giving away free signed books via Twitter and in partnership with an LA bookstore, but it's a little too late now. Don't fear though, she is looking for ways to give her books to some lucky fans in 2017!

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?
