This weekend we have one of the largest festivals in the US going on. Electric Forest boasts multiple stages spread out through the woods of Rothbury, Michigan. What was originally a one weekend festival has drawn so much attendance and demand, they opened the festival up for two weekends of mystical adventure. Weekend one is going on right now and I’m on schedule for week two.Well I got my ticket and my band is a different color.
The lineup for both weekends are stellar and feature Bassnectar. What more could you ask for? Well we have Black Tiger Sex Machine, 12th Planet, Funtcase, Alison Wonderand, Rezz, String Cheese Incident, Papadosio, Odeza, Dillon Francis, Claude Vonstroke, Oliver Heldens, A-Trak, Big Gigantic, RL Grime, Flume, DJ Snake, Illenium, motha freakin Waka Flocka Flame, and many many more. This thing is about to be super hype, and I’m checking Snapchat Stories from Musicfests365, and the entire setup looks wicked! I’ll have some insider pictures, but with multiple stage setups, art venues, and other pop-up shows throughout the forest, the attendees will not find themselves at a loss for activities.
Is there any issue at all? Well, paradise on Earth can never be truly perfect. Mother nature unleashed her wrath on the venue and surrounding area on Thursday night as the festival began and has rained throughout since. Welcome to Mucktown USA. Showers covered the area and left behind mud pits in the show area. So what are we gonna do about it? Just gonna have to dust off those “hunter" boots or dirty old galoshes and grab yourself a poncho, because we are heading out to week two to brave the storm and anything left behind from week one.
Now there are some mixed opinions on the two week separation, and I’m going to tell you why week two will be the better half in my opinion. First off when comparing the two lineups, I see much more bass in weekend two. With acts like 12th Planet, Funtcase, Claude VonStroke, and BTSM; we will see plenty of bass action and during sets with Papadosio and Eoto the headbangers will be able to chill in the crowd, maybe on a waterproof blanket or something? Compared to week one which has sold out, an Electric Forest insider told us that they are a little past half capacity for week two. This means that the week two visitors will have near double the space to play around in; therefore, being that much closer to the stage for Bassnectar!
Either way, Electric Forest is bringing the heat with its pyrotechnic displays, multiple stages, large venue area, and free water stations. Looking to gain as many attendees as possible, the weekend 2 tickets are still on sale and seem to be half way or so till selling out. Grab your tickets here! https://www.electricforestfestival.com
