Winter break is winding down for us college kids. As we prepare for the new semester that is approaching, you may find yourself stressing out. You get stressed out about the next-to-impossible class you are forced to take, or the professor that was given not-so-great reviews. Either way, there is no avoiding your duties as a student. Instead of denying the fact that your break has come to an end, prepare yourself. Slowly ease into your school mindset by following a few, easy tips.
1. Brave the storm.
First off, as a lover of warm weather, I will tell you right now that spring semester is a cold one. From the months of January to at least March you will be enduring some cruel temperatures. Start this semester with your winter clothes, as I like to call them. Get rid of the clothes you've had for years, and have worn once. Organize your closet. When that dreadful alarm goes off, finding a comfortable outfit will make your morning routine that much easier.
2. Be responsible.
And pay your tuition! Deadlines, deadlines, deadlines! Nobody likes them, but they are there for a reason.
3. Keep an eye out.
If you didn't get the class section you wanted because it was full during registration, keep checking! Students who forget to pay their tuition on time will be dropped from classes and the games will begin at 5 o'clock on the dot.
4. Email.
I know that I am one to check my email at least twice a day because I hate having notifications. Others, on the other hand, can go days with the hundreds of notifications on one, or multiple apps. It's important to be checking your email as frequently as you can because there is a chance that advisors or professors will be emailing a notice of some sort.
5. Rest.
Take the remaining days you have left and relax. Once classes pick up you wont have as many opportunities for a nap or a binge watch on Netflix.
6. Get in the zone.
I will not lie to you -- after a month of no classes, holding a pen properly is difficult (OK, so maybe I'm being a bit over dramatic). Don't let your brain melt too fast during the break and pick up that book you've been meaning to read. Make a to-do list. Go shopping for school supplies (you can't deny that finding the perfect pen is actually, very satisfying).
Do whatever you can to excite yourself for the new semester ahead! It'll will go by faster than you think.
