Top Dawg Entertainment's artist, SZA, released her debut album, CTR, on June 9. Ever since the album dropped, Twitter has been shook. From the butterflies in the "Love Galore" video to Drew Barrymore's cameo in the "Drew Barrymore" video, CTRL has a song that every girl can relate to.
Before we get any further into the album, let's discuss the correct pronunciation on SZA's name. It is pronounced like scissa or sizza...at least that's how I say it. You can check out her Breakfast Club interview to hear her explanation and how she came up with the name.
Back to CTRL! Here are my top four favorite songs and reasons why every 20-something girl can relate to the album:
1. "Love Galore" -- This song embodies a lot of emotions. In the first verse, SZA let's these dudes know that we don't need them and the stress they cause. When she says "why you bother me when you know you don't want me?" I expect every girl all over the world to get hyped because this is a question we all want the answer to! Why do guys lead us on when they know they aren't ready? whhyyy??
2. "The Weekend" -- My favorite song on the album. Like SZA, you did that girl!! This song did cause a lot of controversy at first but SZA clarified it letting people know what it really means.
My man is MY man Is YOUR man heard thts HER man too : thts 3 women ..Not two. all getting played. one opted out. No side chick .Sorry lol

I feel like every young woman can relate to getting played, whether it was knowingly or unknowingly. SZA shows you how to embrace your position no matter what. Let's not forget about the vocals on this song...can you say bomb.com?
3. "Doves in the Wind" -- I think we can all agree that these men don't deserve us. They don't but we have to co-exist and reproduce so whatever *inserts eye rolling emoji*
4. "20 Something" -- This song is pretty much the life of a 20-something girl in this day and age. SZA does a great job of expressing her feelings about things that everyone goes through. I hope this song helps others to realize that they are not the only person dealing with life problems. We're young. It's OK; we are all OK. Everybody just breath.
This album came out almost a month ago, and I still bump these songs like it came out yesterday, I just cant get enough. If you haven't, please go listen to this album!
