Yes, the new "Star Wars" movie is out. The "Jurassic Park" sequel came out this year. The "Ghostbusters" sequel/remake is coming out next year. I literally cannot anymore. I feel like there aren't any ideas left out in the world to make a movie.
Actually, I take that back. Sometimes when I watch a movie, I feel like I could have written it 10 times better. There are so many ways a show on television can go, and whatever way it usually goes tends to be unsatisfying.
Maybe I should have been a screenplay writing major...
Anyway, the world is running dry with creative movie ideas. When they decided to reboot "Vacation" that was the end of the line. Did anyone see it? Actually, did anyone see the original? The new movie was so bad that it was so bad. Yea, I know.
Don't even get me started on the "Spiderman" movies. The first three were great. Yes, Tobey Maguire will forever be spiderman to me. Then they decided to reboot the franchise and it was less than 5 years ago since the last one came out. To make things worse, they used all new actors.
To make things even more worse, they're redoing it AGAIN, with all new actors. When will this madness end?
I was super excited when they decided to remake "Poltergeist". I felt like horror movies were the only genre allowed for remakes. A horror movie can definitely be reimagined right? Wrong. That movie was SO bad.
I'm pretty sure remakes will forever-never be better than the original. Does anyone remember the "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" remake with Johnny Depp? Okay maybe it was alright, but definitely not as good as the original. What about the "Annie" remake? Pause. It was so bad. The songs in that movie were so bad. Please stop trying to modernize everything because just like our time period, it's trash.
I love movies. I can watch movies all day. Quite frankly, I could watch movies all month straight if I didn't have to get up to go to the bathroom. However, don't mess with the original. Unless it's "The Parent Trap" because that's the best movie ever. I get chills when I think about what it's going to be like when I see movies I saw as a kid, back in the movie theater as a remake. Like "Harry Potter"? Whoever remakes that movie... I pray for them.
That's honestly the holy grail. Do NOT remake that movie series. Harry Potter is a classic and needs to remain a classic. Emma Watson IS Hermione. No one else can be. End of story.
The point in watching a movie is to enjoy it, not throw your $15 popcorn at the screen. Don't make me do that.
