Every college student looks forward to the first week back at classes. You get to see you're friends and have fun. No one expects to have work during the first week.
Well, that seems to have been thrown out the window this semester. Everyone that I have talked to seems to be slammed with work this week. But why is that?
Professors need to understand that students are just settling back into their normal routine. Having been off for two months, nobody is in the right mindset to jump straight back into work.
College students need time to get reacclimated to campus. We have to get used to our dorm rooms, dining halls, and new classes. Adding the stress of having work only makes it all worse.
Syllabus week is a notorious time for college students. It's something that everybody looks forward to. It's the one week that students can relax while still having class.
This semester syllabus week just doesn't seem to exist. Everyone has homework due, chapter readings to finish, and online assignments to hand in. It just doesn't seem fair anymore.
As students, we need this break. We need a syllabus week in order to survive the whole semester.
