Believe it or not, Spring break is coming upon us quickly. Many people focus on planning the perfect break with their friends either in Gulf Shores or Destin. A part of having the perfect break is having the perfect swimwear.
Do you want a one-piece bathing suit or a two-piece bikini or tankini? Should it be slimming, help camouflage (you know), or be one of those they call miracle suits? Do you want to be bold and go with something hot, sheer, and sexy? Do I splurge and look for a designer brand name like Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria’s Secret, and Anne Cole or a sporty brand name like Nike or Lands End? Or, should you do as I always do and look on the discount rack, patiently waiting for my perfect bathing suit pick to go on sale? And let us not forget about the color options such as black, white, floral or florescent. Decisions, decisions.
What you wear on spring break matters. Sure, you may have some swimsuits from high school lingering in your closet, but you are in college now so you might want to update your swimsuit. It is okay to splurge a on a new bikini or two. You are probably going to take a lot of pictures on the beach and around the island or city, so it’s important to be prepared. You want to look and feel good in your swim wear, so here are some tips for you to follow when shopping for a new suit:
1. Dress for your body type.
This is very important. You don’t want to look awkward in an ill-fitting swimsuit or feel self conscious in a bikini. If you do feel self-conscious about your body type, don’t worry. There are different styles of swimwear such as one-pieces, tankinis and bikinis available. Pick what you feel confident in.
2. Mix and match.
Add a little mix to your swimwear. Do solids with prints or different color blocks. Sometimes you just want to be able to stand out at the beach.
3. Make sure that your assets are supported.
A part of keeping the ultimate beach look is making sure nothing comes flying off or popping out of your swim top while you are in (or even out of) the water. That is why it is important you dress for your body type and get the right size. Double knot the strings if necessary. I do so just to be safe.
We can’t forget about what to wear when you’re wandering about.
If you like to wear a swimsuit 24/7, then do whatever floats your boat. I usually just bring tank tops and shorts to wear when I go out. I bring a few casual tanks and maybe a nicer top for dinner and whatever I will be doing afterward. Tunics are my best friend when I am on the beach and want to go somewhere without having to change.
My personal favorites are the Lilly Pulitzer and Vineyard Vines tunics. They are preppy and sophisticated. I just throw one on over my swimsuit and I’m good to go.
Whatever you choose to wear, make sure you feel confident in it. Confidence is key, and you want to be able to have fun on spring break without worrying about what you’re wearing.
