I am a huuuuge Ariana Grande fan so you already know I had her newest album preordered since the first preorder date hit iTunes! Her new album has raised some eyebrows and shown the world what her last year in hiding consisted of. This incredibly strong woman went through the Manchester attack, a toxic relationship, and all while she was expected to be a role model for the world to look up to. She did just that when she released some of the most influential tracks of her career!
1. "breathin"
This song is about that feeling when you're so overwhelmed you can't even breathe. It's incredible how vulnerable she is in this song and not to mention, ISSA BOP!
2. "God is a woman"
This song is incredible because it embraces a woman's sexuality and complements women on their abilities reproductively. Women carry and give birth to the population and it's incredible, hence the title.
3. "no tears left to cry"
This is the song she wrote in response to the Manchester Attack that happened over a year ago. She wrote this positive and uplifting song to show the world positivity even through the worst times in our lives and it truly inspires me. The strength she must have is incredible.
4. "everytime"
This is a song Ariana wrote about a toxic relationship and how no matter how bad she knew he was for her, she always found herself coming back. I think this song is great because of how relatable the message is. Everybody has had that one person in their lives that they couldn't say no too no matter how bad they know they are for them. It's so relatable and I love it when I can relate to an artist I look up to.
5. "R.E.M"
This song was originally sung by Beyonce, just putting that there.
6. "pete davidson"
SHE WROTE THIS ABOUT HIM AFTER ONLY DATING A WEEK IT'S TOO CUTE I CAN'T
7. "better off"
This song is like the response to "everytime" because it's about her finally realizing that she doesn't need anything that doesn't need her and I found it so relatable.
8. "goodnight n go"
This is a cover of a song by Imogen Heap and I absolutely love the passion behind the lyrics of this song. Also, this song is super catchy and it has been getting stuck in my head a lot lately.
9. "sweetener"
Probably one of my least favorite songs when I first started listening to the album, but now, the more I listen to it, the better it gets. This song seems a bit out of place on your first listen through, but later on, you start to understand why it's on the album and why it's the title. It's the dash of something sweet in an album full of sad life stories.
10. "get well soon"
This song depicts her anxiety and how bad she felt whenever she had an anxiety attack last year. She felt as if she was floating and couldn't come back down to Earth whenever she struggled and her lyrics in this song depicting this feeling and the lessons she's learned from it is truly inspiring.
11. "successful"
This song talks about how successful she's become and empowers other women to do the same, wanting other women to strive for the highest they can go! I LOVE HER SO MUCH, OKAY!
12. "raindrops (an angel cried)"
Probably the prettiest intro she's done in a while!
13. "the light is coming"
These last three songs are at the bottom of this list not because they're bad songs, but when listening to the album as a whole, these three seem the least cohesive on the album as a whole. I feel like this album is mostly about self-care and is full of the slow-bumping positive vibes kind of music that isn't too "in your face." These last three feel like waaay too much compared to the overall vibe of the album!
14. "borderline"
I mean it's a lowkey bop but...
15. "blazed"
This one REALLY doesn't fit in with the album.
