Memorial Day is a holiday held close the hearts of many Americans as we remember those who have died while serving our country. It is often celebrated with the first BBQ of the summer season, but with beach (and bikini) season arriving, resisting that ice cream cone might be harder then you'd think.
Here are three healthy, easy and patriotic desserts to beat that sweet tooth so you can rock those white jeans you finally found in your closet.
1. Fruit Salad
Chop up strawberries, cut watermelon into star shapes and throw in some blueberries. You'll have a quick red and blue fruity dessert.
Pop fresh popcorn and melt white chocolate. Pour the white chocolate over the popcorn, and sprinkle with red pop rocks and blue sprinkles for a festive mix!
3. Red and Blue Rice Krispie Treats
Just like traditional Rice Krispie treats, but with a holiday sprinkle addition! Begin by melting butter over the stove and slowly adding in marshmallows. Continue mixing until they're completely melted, then remove from heat and stir in the Rice Krispies. Spread the mixture in a large pan and sprinkle with red and blue sprinkles. Then let it cool, cut into squares, or stars, and serve!
