Home isn't just a place anymore. There are so many things that make a home, a place isn't one of them.
1. Home is a feeling.
You know you're home when you get that warm fuzzy feeling about going there. As college students, we have a new home. This place is where most of our closest friends are; we have mixed emotions when we leave. We get excited about going to the place we formerly called home, but at the same time we dread leaving our new home. The new place we get all warm and fuzzy for.
2. Home is our family.
Our families are home. They will always be home. When we are wrapped up in our mom's arms, the woman who always took care of us, we are home. When our dads tell the worst (but the best) dad jokes, we are home. When our brothers relentlessly tease us, we are home. Our family is home, and always will be home. Regardless of where you are, your family makes it home.
3. Home is our friends.
When we are with our friends, we are home. We are the most comfortable with our friends, the family that we get to choose. Regardless of where we are, I always feel at home when I'm with my best friends. Regardless of where you are your friends make it home.
Since we've come to college, home is not the same place it has always been. I've paved my own path, and home is not the same place it has always been.
