This has been a hot topic for the past week, since the news broke that Jared Kushner spoke to the Russians and convinced them to help sway voters to cast their ballot for Donald Trump to be President of the United States. And yet Barack Obama is being blamed. Trump is saying that he did not do enough about Russian Meddling, and that he knew about it 3 years ago when he was in office. But the question is: how? How did President Obama know about the Russian Meddling when this was just in recent news? Obama didn't have to do meddling because he had enough votes from the American people. So this accusation from Trump is false.
So the big question here is what can be done to insure that the Executive Branch of government has more checks and balances done to be sure that they are not overstepping any boundaries and participating in illegal activity? The answer to this question isn't simple at all. There could be an extra system in place that checks to be sure that the President and his cabinet are not becoming too powerful. It has been an issue multiple times in the past with former Presidents that they receive too much power so they ultimately make poor decisions that are just harming more than they are helping uphold the government. Take Richard Nixon during Watergate for example. He was given too much power so that he could lie and break into the Republican Headquarters ahead of the upcoming election for President. With more checks and balances in place, Nixon and his administration would not have gone as far as he did, and therefore would not have had to resign from office.
Every government isn't perfect, but each President of the United States should take further steps in assuring the future of our government for the American people, and should quite honestly stop with the shady decisions that they decide to do, because in the end it isn't doing anything but harming the country we live in.
