To the people who say Trump is a great president: who even are you? Are you watching the news? Do you care about other people's rights? Probably not.
To the people who say Kavanaugh is innocent: if he was, we wouldn't have been hearing testimonies for over eight hours last week, and theclosest vote in Supreme Court history wouldn't have just happened.
I have so many emotions about the country I live in. The country I once loved, the country I once felt safe in, the country that once supported my LGBTQ+ friends and the country that once didn't have riots every day, or people being shot down in schools.
This isn't our America. It's Trump's America.
I don't feel safe in Trump's America. Someone who needs a strong health care, someone who has been sexually assaulted and raped, and someone who loves her LGBTQ+ friends. I want to feel safe, and I want my loved ones to feel safe too.
I need birth control for my medication plan for my diagnoses, not to just keep me safe. Yet, Brett Kavanaugh thinks birth control causes abortions, so I guess that's going to be thrown out the window soon, too.
Who knew men could be so damn emotional when it comes to politics.
Kavanaugh's meltdown last week only reminded me of the meltdowns Trump has via Twitter. They say that women can't be in politics because we're too damn emotional…funny how that showed differently with Dr. Ford and Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh is just another mini-Trump and we need to act. We need to vote. We need to get rallies together. We need to be heard.
Us survivors deserve to be noticed. Us survivors deserve justice. Us survivors deserve to feel safe and protected. That's what Dr. Ford tried to do for us.
So many people are coming out about #whytheydidntreport and how this ended with Kavanaugh being confirmed really tells you why we didn't report. If our own government can't do the right thing, why did we think the cops would?
I'm so tired of feeling unsafe in a country I once loved and now hate. Friends, family, college students, 18-year olds+ please vote during this primary. Put people in the Senate who will stand up for us, to stand up with you, who will make us feel safe.
We deserve to feel safe.
