"Big Brother 18" is over. That now means that it is "Survivor" time. Surprisingly enough, the premiere didn't have a ton of stuff going on.
First off, the weather was very bad. Cyclone bad in fact. They had to evacuate both tribes from their beaches because it was so treacherous. Strategy wise, over on the Millennial tribe, Jay, Figgy, Michelle and Taylor had formed a very strong alliance and people like Mari and Adam started spotting that. Hannah felt very on the outs too, so she formed a connection with Michelle as well.
Over at the Gen-X camp, the main story was Dave and his weirdness. He doesn't like loud sounds, he's afraid of dying and he's about as skinny as a stick. Chris and Brett seemed to really be hitting it off and Dave thought he was in on this too. However, Dave is a very paranoid man. He thought Ken had an idol just because he had something in his hand. Meanwhile, Dave was looking for the idol and almost everyone saw him making him an easy target. Jessica also found what is called The Legacy Advantage. She won't know what it is until Day 36 and if she gets voted out, she has to pass it to someone else. Gen-X lost the Immunity challenge and went to tribal, where the majority split the vote between CeCe and Rachel with Rachel going home. Dave didn't have an idol so it showed the tribe that he didn't really have it.
Episode 2 hits and that is completely changed. Dave finds the hidden immunity idol, of all people! The guy is ecstatic and if he uses it right, he could be here a really long time. He also made the tribe fire, but we still got a confessional about him or CeCe going next. It is also pointed out that Paul is the guy running the show with Chris, Brett, Jessica, and Sandy (even though she's been invisible the first two episodes). Dave would like to get Paul out.
Over at the Millennial beach, love is in the air. Taylor and Figgy are all googoo gaga over each other and they even end up kissing. Michaela calls them out the next day and Jay can't believe it. He immediately tells Taylor that he has to knock it off or else the alliance will get picked apart. Meanwhile, Michaela is just fed up with Figgy. Everyone sees her as a threat and Michaela just isn't a fan. There is a big blow up between the two leaving them clearly not on the same page.
At this point, Jay did the right thing. If Taylor didn't listen to him, then Jay would have had to jump ship. That is just too dangerous to be affiliated with something like that this early in the game. Figgy was a little surprising. She seemed more like a Parvati type where she would manipulate men, but she actually reciprocated feelings for Taylor. Michaela seemed pretty on par with my assessment. She couldn't keep her mouth shut and just had to start a conflict. Great TV, terrible gameplay.
At the Gen-X tribe, Ken and Dave are able to bond over them not being the most social and outgoing people, so they form an alliance because it helps them feel good about themselves. Dave trusts him so much, he showed him the Idol. While they are talking game, Paul goes down. Dr. Joe says he might be having a heart attack, but, in the end, he just was exhausted from the heat and suffered from dehydration. Dave gives a very funny confessional about him wishing Paul would've gotten evacuated because then it would make it easier for him.
Ken and Dave are an unlikely alliance. Along with CeCe, they are still in the minority so they are going to have to figure something out to stay safe and try to get Paul out. Dave shouldn't have showed Ken the idol, though. You never show your Idol to anyone unless you have to. While Dave trusts Ken, Ken still seems like he could accidently let something slip if confronted by the wrong person. Dave needed to try to keep his head in check and not geek about it. Now a person knows about it and it could change up the whole game.
Gen-X wins Immunity and the Millennials begin to scramble at camp. At first, everyone is on board with voting out Figgy and then Jay gets tipped off about it. Jay immediately starts to work his magic. He knows that Figgy and Michaela don't like each other, but they need her vote. Jay sits them down and talks about how the others side is saying Michaela is next because she is an easy vote. Meanwhile, Michelle is putting in the work to get Will on their side and at Tribal she even convinces Hannah right in front of everyone to vote for Mari. Mari leaves on a 7-3 vote.
Jay and Michelle were very impressive tonight. They got Michaela, who hates Figgy, to keep her around. Michelle also convinced Will and Hannah at the last moment to vote with them. That is some next level game play right there. Maybe this alliance isn't going to be all that bad. Michaela will probably go back to the other side, but Hannah will most likely stay with them. They then have the numbers. If they can keep that going, it is going to be hard to stop them.
Next week, it looks like we have a tribe swap and that will surely shake up the game in a drastic way
