Sometimes, winter feels like it is beating you up. You can’t breathe because the air is dry, you have less energy and Seasonal Affective Disorder takes over. If you hate winter as much as I do, here are some things you should have to help you survive the next few months.
1. Get a humidifier. These are god’s gift to the wintery earth. Just having it on overnight does wonders for your breathing and can help with dry skin.
2. A sun lamp. Sitting in front of one for 30 minutes a day can help with seasonal depression, anxiety and can even improve skin conditions like psoriasis or eczema.
3. Mittens. Personally, I think mittens work better than gloves. I like the ones that have an opening so you can still use your fingers when necessary.
4. Wet skin moisturizer. Jergens makes a great lotion that you apply after the shower, when you’re still wet. Your skin absorbs moisture best when it is wet and it makes it easier to apply.
5. Cabin socks. These are a game changer. They are meant to be worn inside without shoes and they are insanely warm and soft!
6. Mini space heater. These are good for a cheaper way to heat a small space. They come in all sizes and some even have a fake fire.
7. Area rugs. These can help when it is really cold so your feet aren’t touching the freezing floor. It makes the space a little warmer. You can even stack rugs of different sizes. It is cute and functional!
8. A heated blanket. These are hands down the best type of blanket for winter.
9. Facial lotion. Being exposed to the harsh air can dry your skin out causing breakouts and redness. Protecting your skin is important, not only from the summer sun, but the winter air too.
10. Indoor activities. Board games, crafts, scrapbooking and DIY projects are best when you’re snowed in.
11.Baking supplies. Making holiday cookies, pastries and cakes can be therapeutic and it leaves the house warm and smelling wonderful. It’s always great to have cookie cutters, trays and decorating supplies in the cabinets.
12. Sleighs. It never gets old. Make the best of winter and embrace the cold.
13. Proper clothing. First, accept the fact you will look like a puffed marshmallow. A long jacket, waterproof and insulated boots, scarves and hats are all necessary. You want to cover every inch.
