Since I just survived my first week at the University of Dayton, I thought I'd share some tips for surviving the first week of college.
Rule #1
Don't be afraid to ask for directions. When I struggled to find my first class on campus, I was too afraid to ask for help and ended up almost being late to my lecture. You have to realize that upperclassmen have been in your shoes before and are more than willing to help you get to a class.
Rule #2
Don't be afraid to eat alone.I didn't know anyone at my college so I had to learn to eat alone. At first, I was afraid of looking "lonely" but quickly realized that tons of college kids eat alone while doing homework, studying, or talking on the phone.
Rule #3
Wear comfortable clothes. So many people try to dress up in college to impress others. Trust me when I say that dressing up in college is usually gym shoes, jeans, and a t-shirt. NO ONE CARES WHAT CLOTHES YOU WEAR.
Rule #4
BRING DEODORANT WITH YOU WHEREVER YOU GO. Trust me, by the time you run across campus to make it to your lecture, you'll be out of breath and in need of some deodorant.
Rule #5
Have fun! College is mainly about an education but if that's all you focus on, you'll end up lonely and stressed out. GO OUT WITH SOME FRIENDS FROM CLASS. Even if you don't like to party, you can meet a ton of cool people and broaden your circle of friends. It'll make you feel more relaxed, less lonely, and a little happier.
I hope this article helps in some way! If you have any more tips, leave them in the comments!
