After Spring Break, summer seems so close you can almost taste it. But there's still about five to six week left in the semester before you get to enjoy that sweet freedom (unless you're taking a summer term, which in that case, there seems like no end in sight). Surviving the post-Spring Break slump may seem arduous and impossible, but a few things can keep you on track.
First, make sure to schedule yourself some me-time at least every couple of days. Drowning in loads of essays and studying for one exam after another can leave you weary and frazzled. Do something you enjoy for at least thirty minutes, whether that be reading a new novel that came out, listening to the new Drake album (uninterrupted), or taking yourself out for a nice solo brunch. All these alone time activities can help you relax and feel more at peace with yourself during stressful times.
Make sure to keep a planner for class assignments that will creep up on you, as well as do any fun summer planning. I find that it's helpful to balance the amount of work you have with a small reward for each one. Bad week of testing coming up? During your study breaks, start planning that beach vacation to continue the productivity without the stress.
Also, for those of us in warmer weather, get out of there and enjoy it. Soaking up some sun certainly helps you mood and makes it feel like summer is closing in. And there's nothing quite like that initial feeling of warmth when the sun hits your body after a rough winter. For those of you in less fortunate weather predicaments, we'll send Snapchats of our poolside pictures.
The last piece of advice I can give is to take everything step-by-step. It can be overwhelming and frustrating to think about the amount of weeks left in the semester but if you take it week-by-week, or even day-by-day, for those really busy people, I promise the road ahead will seem less daunting.
You have a handful of weeks to get that G.P.A. up, get that summer body going, and get your morale high again. You can do it.
