Post Holiday Blues

The holiday season can be an amazing time of the year. You get to see your family. You get to head home for the holidays and so on. But there's one thing that everyone hates about the holidays -- the post holiday blues. It's that feeling after all the gifts have been given, cookies baked, and calm family time spent. It's back to the real world. Back to work. Back to business. Back to responsibilities. Here are seven things that help lead to ways the post holiday blues:

1. Your to-do list reappears

2. The decorations come down

All those uplifting holiday decorations start to be put back in their dusty boxes once again and life goes back to "normal."

3. The holiday cookies are gone

The holiday treats seemed to have disappeared over night.

4. School takes focus

School starts becoming apparent in the back of your mind again.

5. You get sad

After all the gifts have been opened and all the food has been eaten, you start to think about getting back to life as usual.

6. Winter

It's cold all the time.

7. No more free time

It becomes apparent that you no longer have time to simply do whatever you want and responsibilities become priority.

While that holidays are a wonderful time it's important to remember that going back to the real world doesn't have to be all bad. Make sure you learn from the holidays and incorporate some of those holiday favorites into your life. Call family more. Spend more time on yourself. Bake yourself some cookies ever now and again.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
