As the end of the spring semester approaches, the nice weather makes it harder and harder to remain focused on school. Spring semester is always much tougher than the fall. During the fall you are looking forward to a month of vacation. But during the spring, you have months of summer to plan for.

Sometimes while you are planning your summer vacations, it is easy to forget about all the current work you have piling up. Or sometimes it can become overwhelming and just too much. This is the simplest way for your grades to slip right from your fingertips.

The spring semester is also the time when college campuses have a majority of their events. Black history month events, Earth day, spring concerts, and outdoor parties all feel like they can't be missed. The truth is: they can't. Below are three tips on surviving spring semester with good grades without missing out on the campus antics.

1. Organize

Organization is the key to good grades. Keeping a planner of some sort at hand will do more for you than you think. Write down all your test dates. Keep track of events you don't want to miss. Schedule in at least one study session every day (no matter what time). As students, it's easy to do all of our assignments then think it's time for play, forgetting about all the information we still have to absorb before the next test/quiz arrives. This way, the information stays fresh in your mind without having to cram it into one week of studying.

2. Prioritize

When you enroll in college you are showing that your education is one of your main priorities. During spring semester it's important not to forget that. You have to know what matters to you. In a hypothetical situation where you don't have time during your day because of all your classes and events for a study session, you can either schedule it for 1 AM or get a good night's sleep. It is important to know which person you are, the sleeper or the one who studies and plan the rest accordingly.

3. Delete Your Netflix Account

The people who are telling themselves that Netflix has no affect on them and they can stop when they want are liars. The truth is spring semester is when all the really good Netflix series come out that you have to see (mostly because everyone else has seen it). In all honesty, you can't control yourself; none of us can. The best thing you can do for yourself is to cancel your Netflix subscription and never look back.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
