8 Ways To Survive The Last Weeks Of The Semester

Because getting through the end of a semester is a lot harder than getting through the end of just about anything else.

It's all coming to an end, and summer will be here in just a matter of weeks. But getting through this last week or two can be the most difficult task when all you want to do is lay in your bed. So here are just a few tips to (maybe) get you through the end of the semester.

1. Coffee

Of course you won't want to go too crazy with the coffee, but in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with a little bean juice to get you through the end of this semester. And go ahead and treat yourself to a fancy drink during finals week. You deserve it.

2. Snacks

Snacks are what keep us all going. So while you are studying for your exams, or writing those dreadful final papers, have some snacks with you to reward yourself each time you actually do something productive.

3. Having a clean space

You are likely already overwhelmed by the amount of studying you have to do, and having a ridiculously messy space can just add more stress to your life. Try to finish tasks as soon as you can and maybe try making your bed in the morning. You might not feel less stressed, but at least you won't feel more stressed.

4. Accessible Flashcards

When you have important exams to study for, it can help to study whenever you get the chance. Sometimes you have that awkward amount of time in your day when you can't necessarily get a million things out to study, but you probably have time to pull out your phone and open Quizlet or just pull out a small stack of flashcards.

5. Sleep

I think this is pretty obvious, but trying to get any work done at all when you are running on just a few hours of sleep is almost impossible. Don't drink caffeine too late in day and try using night mode on your phone and/or your laptop as well. After a couple days, waking up might not feel as miserable.

6. Make some time for yourself

In the midst of all the stress, try to make some time for yourself by doing something you enjoy. That might be doing some sort of craft, exercising, or just going outside. You don't want to forget what it's like to not be studying.

7. Listen to music

Listen to music as you are walking to your classes, when you are getting ready in the morning, when you are working out, when you are studying. Just whenever you can if it helps you relieve just a little bit of your stress.

8. Shower

Taking a long shower is so nice. And you already paid your tuition, so you don't have to care about the water bill. Taking a can help you feel refreshed after sitting at a desk for hours, and we all want that.

Overall, you really just want to take care of yourself during this last week or two. Feeling miserable about everything else is just going to make surviving finals and anything else you might have going on so much harder. So try and take care of your own well-being, eat some snacks, and drink up on that bean juice. Good luck!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
