Flying across the country is an activity that takes a significant amount of time, energy, and extreme amounts of patience. Dealing with delays, connecting flights, and massive amounts of people is not something that people necessarily look forward to. Here are some general tips to help you survive a multi-flight trip.
1. Timeliness is vital
As someone who may or may not have missed her first out of five flights, I would strongly suggest being more than reasonably early for your departure time.
2. Coffee Coffee Coffee
Being caffeinated is always a wondrous idea when trying to get from one plane to the next.
3. Bring entertainment
Being on a plane for many hours with nothing to read or work on helps to make the flight excruciatingly long and dreadful.
4. Be Comfortable
Having a travel pillow is key to not getting a super stiff and sore neck after trying to sleep on a plane. The comfier you are, the easier it will be to nap away the time.
5. Create an Awesome Playlist
Jamming out to some fun tunes is also a spectacular method of passing time whilst trapped in a small area with two strangers.
6. Don't forget headphones
Listening to the awesome playlist that you did not forget to make is way easier to accomplish when using headphones.
7. Wear easily removable shoes
Traveling day is not necessarily the day you want to show off your new super complex and hard to get into and out of shoes. Taking your shoes off is way easier with slip on shoes when you go through security.
8. Travel light
Getting on and off planes is significantly easier if you do not need to worry about where you had to put your bag in the overhead compartments, and squishing your giant backpack under the seat in front of you may take more time than you would hope for.
9. Being prepared
Other flyers are not going to be too pleased with you when you sit at the front of the line and dig through your wallet to find your ID, so having it ready to go is super time efficient.
10. Personal Space
I have noticed that it is hard to maintain personal space while being in crowded airports, but it is a great idea to keep in mind that people may not want to hear your phone conversations or read your book with you. Giving people space never hurts anything.
11. Refrain from clapping
Whatever you do, if you choose to go against the other ten tips, please do not clap when the plane lands. This is vital to your traveling experience and will likely affect the rest of your life.
Clearly, there are many details that go into successfully flying far. Stay aware of these general tips and you should do pretty well out there. Stay safe and happy flying!
