Lately, I've found that I almost exclusively listen to "surf punk". I've always found myself attracted to punk, but this latest form has my attention. This branch of punk rock takes the best of beach-side music, 50's swing, and 90's grunge - and somehow formulates these completely dissimilar influences into the best music of the modern age. These bands I've taken a liking to have found there place in my playlist for the month, and ironically are all very close friends. I recently saw Fidlar, The Frights, and SWMRS on tour in Washington DC. I traveled five hours just for this show, and it was certainly worth it. Despite the simplicity of the music, these musicians have worked tirelessly to craft albums they have enourmous pride in, and for good reason. Without further ado, take a listen to my latest Spotify playlist.
