This week on Twitter a lot of street fashion followers have been shocked at tweets from fashion news source FourPins (@Four_Pins) claiming they want collaboration between Vineyard Vines and Supreme. Vineyard Vines is a clothing brand born in Martha's Vineyard with a target market of preppy customers. Supreme is a street fashion brand born in the skating culture of New York. As you can probably assume, these two brands are very different so a collaboration is not something that was expected.
This all started with Virgil Abloh, the founder of street fashion company Off-White, posting a picture on his Instagram of himself wearing a Vineyard Vines shirt accompanied by a Louis Vuitton cross body bag.
Following this post and a few tweets from Four Pins the internet decided to blow up. Devoted followers began tweeting about how they need Vineyard Vines and were willing to sell their Supreme clothing in order to buy Vineyard Vines. There were even fake logos made as if the two brands collaborated.
The likelihood of these two brands actually collaborating is probably very low, although it would be an interesting collaboration. It's hard to tell whether this is an actual change in street fashions direction or if this is all just a joke. I guess only time will tell, but until then I'll be wearing my boyfriends Supreme hoodie with my Vineyard Vines hat.
